In January, we will be taking on the challenging trek to the summit of Kilimanjaro on behalf of The Brain Tumour Charity & The Ali Ling Fund.
The challenge
At a colossal 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the Earth’s crust. Our challenge is to clamber above the sea of clouds to its summit. We begin in the lush rainforests of the Lemosho Glades, climbing towards the Shira Plateau. We follow the impressive Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route to the summit. We then embark on the 1,000m ascent and 2,000m descent – altogether one toughest but most exhilarating adventures you can ever embark on.
The Brain Tumour Charity’s Impact
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. Accelerating change on all fronts - through research, awareness and support - is the only way to reach our vision of a world where people diagnosed with brain tumours live longer and better lives. We have ambitious goals to double survival and halve the harm that brain tumours have on quality of life by 2030 - because a cure can’t wait!
The Ali Ling Fund
January 2026 is a poignant date for the Gedge/Ling family as it marks 10 years since the passing of our lovely Ali! Someone that lit up every room with her smile and contagious laugh, someone who was there for everyone and bought so much joy to their lives, someone that was loved by so many. That’s why we’ve chosen to complete this trek for our supporter group, The Ali Ling fund.
What better way to celebrate Ali’s life than taking on this epic challenge?!
